Navriti 2023 showcased 18 innovative prototypes under three categories: Sustainability, Assistive Technology, and AI & IoT.
Dr. Man Mohan Sharma, a veteran Academic & Padma Vibhushan Awardee, served as the Chief Guest at the 82nd Foundation Day Celebration, commending students for their innovative spirit and providing words of encouragement.
In the Sustainability section, projects included a Solar Panel Cleaner, Natural Pesticide, Self-sustaining indoor compost system, Sustainable City and EV, a self-cooling vaccine transportation and storage device, and a Sustainable Lounge. Under the Assistive Technology section, projects featured an Exterio-thermoregulator, Spot Welding Machine for lithium-ion batteries, Design and Optimization of a Microbial Fuel Cell, a Saline Bottle with a red alert alarm, Multi-purpose Walker for disabled and elderly, Enhancing navigation for Visually Impaired Individuals with LiDAR-Based Cap, a Suture device, and Bracepacks.For the AI & IoT section, projects comprised CADWAS - A Dark Web Crawler, Organic Agricultural Revolution using IoT, and Aavruti - Enhancing Weather Nowcasting using Deep Learning and Satellite Imagery.

Navriti 2022 unveiled a diverse array of 38 projects, neatly categorized into sections such as Potential for Startups, Startups, Art of Learning, Eco-Friendly Ideas, and the Science Behind Technology. Within the Potential for Startup category, students showcased their creative and innovative prowess in areas like Design Technology and Utility Devices.
The evaluation of these projects was based on meticulous criteria, including (1) Description of Products and Demonstration, (2) Impact, (3) Innovation Claim and Competitive Analysis, (4) Scalability Prospects, and (5) Overall Assessment & Mentoring Needs. Furthermore, startups underwent scrutiny based on Scalability Prospects, Delivery Model, Financials, and Investment Potential.
Mr. Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the esteemed Director General of CMSV Museum and Chief Guest at the 81st Foundation Day Celebration, provided inspiring words of encouragement to the students, commending them for their innovative spirit.

The third edition of the student project exhibition, Navriti, showcased multiple prototypes and informative models overarching all the disciplines offered by Somaiya Vidyavihar. The projects displayed under the six themes: Robotics, Smart Appliances, Organoagritech, Medical devices, and Managerial projects (Madhan) gave a glimpse of the diversity among thinkers & doers at Somaiya Vidyavihar.
Students Innovators from both Somaiya Shishu Niketan Primary School, and K J Somaiya English Medium School, Sameerwadi, won the STAR INNOVATION AWARDS for SCHOOL. Student researchers from both K J Somaiya Institute of Engineering & Information and Technology and K J Somaiya College of Engineering bagged the STAR INNOVATION AWARDS for COLLEGE.
The chief guest of the 61st Foundation celebration, Prof (Dr) Ved Prakash, former Chairman University Grant Commission, interacted with each participant and encouraged their innovative & research spirit.

Navriti - 2018, marks the second edition of the innovation exhibition and showed increase in the number of participation than the last year. The first stop for the chief guest of 60th Foundation celebration, Prof (Dr) Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, the renowned scientist and former Director General of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) was Navriti elated the mood of the participants and a moment of pride to these aspiring researchers.
Prof. Mashelkar took quality time in interacting with each participants and the projects they were showcasing. The budding researchers from schools showcased maximum projects which can be stated as the highlight of this year’s exhibition.

The ventures and prototypes that were projected for the Navitri Innovation project exhibition - 2017 were showcased under five categories, Consultancy@Somiaya, Start-ups@Somaiya, Sustainability@Somaiya, Budding innovators@ Somaiya & Made @ Somaiya. Among these, the most noted were the three consultancy projects, Linen accounting System, Motion sensor Announcer and Water level sensor. All the three are unique in their approach, but at the same time similar, as they all cater to the problems of Indian railways.
The interaction of Chief Guest, Honourable Railway Minister, Shri Piyush Goyal with these students and their mentor were full of reverence for their enthusiasm and intellect. He also appreciated Mr. Rupesh Kohli, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineering, Mumbai Central Division, Western railway, Mumbai for approaching Somaiya and being a liaison for the same. The Chief Guest, dignitaries and the crowd cheered with weighted breath for the stunt by All-Terrain Vehicle Red Shift. Every single time, it’s a euphoric proud moment for all Somaiyans when the all-terrain completes its steep ascend. The visitors took great interest in knowing the start-up ventures: HORO, Mind assets, Offee & Autilearn and sustainable products like solar cooker, bioplastics from agricultural waste & paper from weeds developed under the umbrella of Somaiya Vidyavihar.
This project exhibition also provided a platform for enthusiastic budding innovators and artists. Our school children proudly presented simple yet great innovative ideas ranging from the solar light tracker to charge suppliers, hydraulic bridge to smart farming initiatives as well as showcasing a brain model. Visitors took great joy in exploring these and many purchased their craft & art items as souvenirs for the event.
