Qualification: Graduation, Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science/ Sports Science/ Physical Education/ Kinesiology
Certifications (any one or more):
NSCA-CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
NASM-PES (Performance Enhancement Specialist)
ASCA Level 1 or 2 (Australian Strength and Conditioning Association)
ISSA Strength and Conditioning Coach
Diploma from NIS (SAI) in Strength & Conditioning or Physical Training
Sports Achievement: Former professional, national, or state-level player is highly preferred.
Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of coaching experience working with athletes in youth, elite, or professional sports settings. Experience in multi-sport environments preferred.
•Design and implement sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for individual athletes and teams.
•Develop training plans for pre-season, in-season, and off-season periods.
•Conduct assessments of fitness components: strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, mobility, etc.
•Supervise resistance training, plyometrics, speed training, aerobic conditioning, and mobility work across Sports at Somaiya Sports Academy.
•Integrate recovery strategies such as foam rolling, stretching, ice baths, and sleep optimization.
•Monitor athlete wellness and load using subjective and objective tools.
•Identify movement deficiencies and implement corrective exercise protocols.
•Collaborate with physiotherapists to create return-to-play plans and reconditioning routines.
•Use fitness testing data (e.g., Yo-Yo, 1RM, Vertical Jump) to track progress.
•Maintain athlete performance logs and use software for data analysis (e.g., LifeFitness, KInvent, Excel) available at the Sports Peformane Lab at Somaiya Sports Academy.
•Provide regular feedback to athletes and coaches.
Key Skills
Master’s degree in Sports Science or related field.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Knowledge of sports nutrition or sports psychology
